My initial concern is rather then a concentrated focus on making one system great (Drupal), we would now have multiple mediocre systems. If it's truly the case that developers are exiting Drupal due to v8 initiatives, then I guess I see the need, but it seems that there is always a backlash when new changes are introduced to systems. The right objective has always been to work through those new changes, and as a community strive to make the system better. Forking it has never been the answer. I could be wrong... just some thoughts

To post pieces of code, surround them with <code>...</code> tags. For PHP code, you can use <?php ... ?>, which will also color it based on syntax.
Web page addresses and email addresses turn into links automatically, unless the parent tag has the 'nolink' class.
