I am really glad I found this. I left Drupal a few years ago for Wordpress and I'll tell you I often feel bad about it. I started with Drupal 6 and banged my head against the wall learning it. I got pretty good with it technically and thematically. I got to 7 and started to feel, that everything took forever to do- maybe worn out :). I often felt that there were things in it that could of been improved but when 8 was in discussion, I was ready for that exit strategy. My main 'gripe' was the manual system update. Every time there was an update, I cringed. I hope that maybe Backdrop can help with that issue may be in the future. Today, I downloaded Backdrop and like what I am seeing. I know its D7 but even the styling gets my attention. It's sparking that renewed interest. I totally get the MVC patterns and I am in partial agreement for the course of D8 but to me I dig the mission you guys are trying to achieve.
