Backdrop CMS is a fork of Drupal.
The primary goal of this project is to provide a more affordable, still robust CMS, with a low barrier to entry. This will include: a more intuitive user interface, code that is easier to grok, and lower system requirements (which should allow for more affordable hosting).
Improvements over Drupal 7 include:
* Configuration management tool ~ new config module
* Revamped layout system ~ new layouts module
* Comprehensive listing builder ~ views module in core
* Improved performance
